Abstract

This study conducted a floristic survey in the “Preciosa” Native Environmental Reserve, located on the Humpata Plateau (2,100 m altitude, 200 ha). The area encompasses three main habitats: grassland dominated by grasses and herbs; a patch of dwarf miombo (Brachystegia sp.); and rocky outcrops with shrubs and subshrubs. Using the plot method (20 x 50 m), 149 species were recorded, distributed across 112 genera and 49 families. The most representative families were Poaceae (24 species), Asteraceae (18), Rubiaceae (17), Fabaceae (15), and Lamiaceae (7). Of the total, 90.6% of the species were identified to the genus level, 70.8% to the species level, and 2.7% remained undetermined. Fifteen endemic species were also recorded, highlighting the importance of the reserve for the conservation of the local flora. The results expand botanical knowledge of the region and provide support for management and conservation strategies for the biodiversity of the Humpata Plateau.
