Abstract

In this article, we intend to reflect on the linguistic policies adopted by the Angolan state that support the insertion, implementation and generalization of the teaching of Angolan languages of African origin in general and of the Nyaneka-Nkhumbi language in particular in the school. We consider it important to make this reflection, since the analysis of legal documents on educational policies in the country can contribute to a fairer, more adequate practice of all the languages of Angola and their appreciation in the political, economic and social field. Our analysis will address i) the linguistic situation in Angola and ii) the Educational Language Policies in Angola. The present study is descriptive, using a documentary analysis (legislation, educational policy language documents, and reports). The results of this documentary analysis allow us to recognize some weaknesses of laws on educational language policies, such as: lack of a pilot study with the communities to define the language to be taught at school; training of teachers for bantu languages, preparation of the alphabet and textbooks for all the languages of Angola.
