Intervention of higher education institutions in the social field

EditorialAbstract
The current social context, in general, has been impregnated with challenges, in many cases, resulting from adversities of various kinds, which drives institutions to develop actions that allow them to adapt to the contexts and, more than that, the organisational resilience. For the school institutions, especially those devoted to the production of knowledge, the challenges are perhaps greater, whose complexities interweave the production, the systematization of knowledge and the dissemination of the results obtained through the scientific method. This reality implicitly brings the logic of pertinence and social commitment of the institutions, which is inevitably associated with their close ties to society. In a tangential way, we consider that university extension is configured as a privileged field of intervention for higher education institutions, as an area that fosters the university's social commitment.
