Abstract

This study discussed the potential of digital technologies and the need for their systematic implementation in university pedagogy in Angola. A qualitative approach was adopted and a bibliographic research was used, which allowed for the identification in the literature of the real impact that digital technologies have caused on global development in different domains, changing the way of living, thinking and acting, giving rise to what is called digital culture, which is embodied in the unavoidable use of digital technologies for daily social interaction. It was understood that digital culture has managed, in record time, to globalise the economy, technology, politics and culture; generating an exponential intercommunication between all countries, which has resulted in changes in the various educational contexts, namely higher education. In view of these results, it was realised that digital culture may be the solution for the globalisation of higher education in areas of limited and dispersed resources such as those of Angola. The study demonstrates how digital technology is associated with the concept of pedagogical paradigm shifts and how its effective use implies a substantial teacher training process as a guarantee of favourable pedagogical conditions.
