Abstract

This article aims to carry out an analysis of the challenges imposed on the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa by the pandemic. An exploratory research was carried out, using the SWOT matrix, highlighting the Weaknesses, Strengths, Threats and Opportunities, in the context of developing countries like Angola. It was concluded that the sub-Saharan African countries, having dealt, in recent times, with several epidemics, such as Cholera, Marburg and others, may have gained an experience that allows them to give a differentiated response to the fight against COVID-19, being therefore, the biggest problem is the maintenance of measures and their sustainability in the medium and long term. In the same way, pre-existing problems, such as: illiteracy, poverty, lack of drinking water, precarious housing and inadequate basic sanitation, need to be addressed, since they can compromise the measures recommended to contain the pandemic.
