The inaugural issue of the Kilamba Scientific Journal brings together academic research focusing on educational, psychological, social and institutional challenges in the Angolan context. The articles centre on four key areas, namely:

1. Education and Teaching Practices: This section analyses the initial and in-service training of primary school teachers for inclusive physical education for pupils with disabilities in Cubango province; teachers’ perceptions of gender stereotypes in classrooms in Bengo; and the use of the game ‘Não Te Irrites’ (Ludo) as a teaching resource for the development of logical-mathematical reasoning.

2. Occupational Mental Health: This section investigates the psychosocial risks, mental distress and the phenomenon of organisational silence experienced by workers in the public and private sectors in Angola.

3. Forensic Psychology and the Prison System: This examines the forensic psychological assessment of prisoners convicted of murder at Calomboloca Prison, highlighting the use of follow-up interviews in the diagnosis of mental disorders and the analysis of criminal behaviour.

4. Diplomacy and International Relations: This section discusses the evolution of the profile of the Angolan diplomat, addressing the transition to economic and digital diplomacy, as well as the challenges of continuing professional development in the face of contemporary geopolitical dynamics.

Overall, the articles highlight the importance of institutional reforms, well-founded public policies and technical capacity-building to meet Angola’s social and scientific needs.
