Abstract
The Kilamba Private Higher Polytechnic Institute (ISPP-Kilamba), as an institution dedicated to teaching, research, outreach, development and innovation, presents the first issue of its scientific journal.
The inaugural issue is entitled ‘Society, Education and Rights in Angola: Contemporary Interdisciplinary Contributions’. The relationship between society, education and rights in Angola reflects the challenges of post-conflict reconstruction and democratic consolidation, where interdisciplinary analyses — integrating Sociology, Pedagogy, Law and Economics — highlight profound social, economic and regional inequalities. Against this backdrop, education emerges as a central driver for active citizenship and for overcoming historical bottlenecks, such as exclusion from schooling and illiteracy. To this end, the journal advocates for improvements to infrastructure, the enhancement of teachers’ status, and a curriculum review that takes into account Angola’s cultural and linguistic diversity, thereby transforming schools into legitimate spaces for emancipation.
