Code of Ethical Conduct

The NKWA ZAYI Scientific Journal is a semiannual publication of the Instituto Superior Politécnico Universitário Nimi Ya Lukeni (Angola). The journal adopts the following ethical principles in its editorial policy, which must be strictly observed by all those involved (editors, authors, editorial board members, and readers).

Journal Management / Editorial Team

The Angolan Journal of University Extension:

  • Declares that it does not charge submission or publication fees to authors;
  • Guides authors regarding original and unpublished work;
  • Provides guidance on responsibility for content, including references;
  • Publishes retractions and/or corrections in case of errors;
  • Ensures peer review for all published content;
  • Describes manuscript review stages on the website under author guidelines;
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding submissions, manuscript content, and reviews;
  • Ensures reviewer neutrality and confidentiality;
  • Requests reviewers to declare conflicts of interest, if any;
  • Rejects plagiarism as harmful scientific misconduct, including idea appropriation, redundant publication, data falsification, and improper authorship attribution;
  • Encourages reporting of suspected misconduct.

Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors

  • Provide instructions for manuscript preparation and submission;
  • Clearly define authorship criteria;
  • Treat all authors equally, with courtesy, objectivity, honesty, and transparency;
  • Establish policies on conflicts of interest;
  • Protect author confidentiality;
  • Ensure efficient evaluation systems;
  • Make timely and constructive editorial decisions;
  • Monitor possible delays caused by editors or reviewers;
  • Define rules for sharing research materials;
  • Establish procedures for reconsidering editorial decisions;
  • Regularly review ethical policies;
  • Inform authors about evaluation procedures;
  • Communicate editorial standards clearly;
  • Monitor review processes and plagiarism detection;
  • Ensure impartial evaluation;
  • Declare conflicts of interest;
  • Consolidate reviews;
  • Investigate misconduct;
  • Allow authors the right to respond;
  • Reject manuscripts or retract published articles in case of confirmed misconduct.

Authors

  • Read and understand editorial policies before submission;
  • Declare originality and unpublished status;
  • Declare authorship;
  • Submit carefully reviewed manuscripts;
  • Follow submission tracking;
  • Address reviewer comments;
  • Take full responsibility for content;
  • Acknowledge funding;
  • Issue corrections or retractions if needed;
  • Cooperate in misconduct investigations;
  • Maintain right of response;
  • Submit retraction letters if misconduct is confirmed;
  • Receive feedback and objective evaluation.

Technical Reviewers

  • Maintain confidentiality;
  • Declare conflicts of interest;
  • Decline review if unavailable;
  • Evaluate impartially;
  • Contribute to improving manuscripts;
  • Follow editor guidance;
  • Report suspected misconduct.
